Seventeen Panama City firefighters rushed to the scene of a local apartment fire at mid-morning Tuesday.
As they arrived, firefighters saw flames shooting from the second story windows at 1402 Joe Lewis Dr., Apt. A.
Quick response brought the 9:45 a.m. fire under control in seven minutes.
Fire Department investigators and the State Fire Marshal’s Office ruled the blaze was accidentally set by a four-year-old playing with a lighter.
Three people were home at the time the fire broke out and all were able to get out safely without any injuries.
The apartment was destroyed and an adjacent unit and downstairs apartment sustained limited damage.
