A bill that would give telephone companies the chance to complete with cable TV operators is one step closer to becoming reality.
The cable companies don't like it one bit, but Gov. Jeb Bush does.
"The idea of having and giving consumers more than one choice for telephone services, for cable, for television, for video, for all that stuff is a good thing. It will drive innovation up and it will drive prices down. Markets work."
The cable TV franchise bill was approved by the House Commerce Council Tuesday by a vote of 12-2.
