The traffic fatality count in the area continues to escalate with two more deaths reported in two separate accidents Friday.
A 62-year-old Eufaula, Alabama man died at sunrise Friday morning on US 231 at Linger Longer Road north of Youngstown.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the man, whose identity is still being withheld until relatives are notified, was driving north when he crossed the median and the southbound lanes and crashed into a wooded area.
The driver of the extended cab pick-up truck died at the scene. The mishap is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, a second traffic accident on US 231 Friday claimed another life. This one happened just a half mile north of the Bay and Jackson County line near Alford.
Troopers said Robert E. Myers, Jr. of Cottondale was killed when his SUV drifted onto the shoulder of the four-lane highway. He overcorrected and the car went into a spin, ran off the road, rolled over a number of times, throwing him out.
Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt.
