Family and friends of several Southport firefighters fired for alleged racist behavior picketed outside the Southport Fire Station this weekend.
Two Southport Fire Personnel were removed from the department when the allegations first surfaced several weeks ago.
But in the past week, Bay County officials conducted several hearings and investigations. County Manager Ed Smith ordered three more firefighters also be fired.
The protestors were showing their disapproval of the terminations.
The firings came as the result of complaints about white firefighters repeatedly using racial slurs, playing anti-black music at the fire station and giving a black firefighter a racial derogatory nickname.
In all, there were about 10 pickets outside the station.
