A Panama City man has died as the result of injuries received in an early Saturday morning traffic crash on Tyndall Parkway at 12th Street just outside Springfield.

The Florida Highway Patrol identified the fatality as Jerry Dewayne Ray, Jr, 37 years old.

Troopers say he was traveling on Tyndall Parkway during a rain storm when he lost control of his S-U-V and crashed broadside into a pine tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, 17 year old Javonte D. Harper, 17, also of Panama City was injured and is in serious condition at a local hospital.

Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time.
