NBC's popular game show "Deal or No Deal" will be making a stop in DeFuniak Springs.

The show's host, Howie Mandel, attended the city council special session Tuesday afternoon via speakerphone to explain that the program wanted to feature hometown contestants.

Mandel also asked the council for permission to hang a banner on the water tower to promote the show. Mayor Harold Carpenter said, "Howie, you've got a deal."

Harold Carpenter said, "All of a sudden Howie came on and it was quite exciting talking to him by teleconference. Howie said that was the first time he had been to, or listened in, on a small town meeting."

So who is the lucky contestant? Kim Jones of DeFuniak. She's already taped the episode, but we'll have to wait until December when the show airs to see if we can call her “Lady Luck.”
