A Southport family is wondering what the future holds after losing everything to a fire last night. The mother and father did not have any homeowner's insurance, and now they and their four children have no place to go.
Eleven-year-old Justin Murray should be in school, but this Wednesday he was playing on the bed in a Panama City motel. A fire made Justin and his family instantly homeless Tuesday night.
"We seen the smoke a half a mile before we got there, so I knew it wasn't a joke."
Tuesday night a fire gutted Aguillon's Southport home, destroying everything.
Karen Peters Aguillon said, "The neighbor called and said that my house was on fire and the back bedroom was engulfed in flames. The fire department was there for five hours."
Despite Bay County Fire Department's efforts, they couldn't save the home.
This family's home has been scorched from the inside out. Red Cross is calling it a total loss, but in the meantime they're providing a place for them to stay.
That help runs out Thursday, and with no insurance and a paycheck still days away, the family of six has nowhere to go.
Although, she's overwhelmed about where she and her family will permanently live, Karen Peters Aguillan remains grateful for their safety and any help they may receive.
"If anyone could help out, I would really and greatly appreciate it."
If you'd like to help the aguillian family, please call 867-7261 or 271-4529.
