Boil Water Advisories are Lifted
All boil water advisories issued last friday for all of Bay County have now been lifted. Most were removed Sunday. Panama City Beach was cleared late Monday morning. The entire county wide system has been given an "Alll Clear" Posted: 9:57 PM Sep 5, 2008 Mandatory Boil Water Notice |

I checked in at a condo in PCB on Saturday of last week. We didn't know anything about boiling water. We left on Wednesday and on Thursday I became ill with chills and the shaking. My bloodpressure usually is normal and when my husband took it 189/98. Could anyone help me in telling me if the water that I did drink at the condo caused this. I am at home now and still feel ill. I need to know something to tell my doctor when I see him on Monday if I am no better. What type of bacteria or illness this might cause.

It is ridiculous!!! Our water has been brown for 2 weeks and STILL brown. Costing an arm and a leg to buy water to fill the coffee maker. I made a bad mistake - I filled the tub to take a bath, came back in and saw that it looked like pond water and left it to show my husband... drained it and now I can't even get the stains out with bleach. Any ideas how to get the stains out? No wonder my skin is all breaking out. I'm so mad that we don't know about the notices. I'm also mad that this has been going on for a week prior to the notice and still after. Tell my boss that no wonder I'm sick!

We live on the very West End of the beach. If the notice has been lifted then why does the water smell horrible??? Every time the water has that foul odor we find out weeks later.....you know the routine.

Obviously, it must not be that serious if there is no effort by the county to really inform the public (and those business owners who sell to the public)

No offense to WJHG, but why doesn't the county post this on their website. We only found out about it b/c my husband works at Tyndall and they sent out a basewide email on Friday,but had no information when it was rescinded. Maybe he'll get an email this am. But I don't understand why the county doesn't post this info someplace on the web that the public can find easily.

These notices should be updated morning and evening. As a business owner there is no way to know if we are safe selling drinks.

There should be an email list we can sign up for that we would be notified when there is a boil notice and also once it is lifted.

Colleen has a great point! I wish local TV and Cable Systems would scroll the bottom of the screen. For example like weather warnings. And does Hi Temp and Heated Dry on a dishwasher protect you?

Why haven't we had an update for Sunday Sept 7th yet. I,m scared to even take a shower or was my cloths because the water doesn't get hot enough to kill the bacteria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Karen. This type of notice should be announced on all radio stations and television stations as soon as it is determined to be necessary. This is a public health/safety issue. The end of the evening is not the time to find out the water you've been drinking all day is contaminated.

I cannot find any acceptable reason for not broadcasting this event in a manner similar to a Tornado Warning!

There should be a way that people are informed about boil water notices. Half the time I find out about it on the evening news and it has been going on all day. Then I have to search the TV and Newspaper web sites to find out if it is still going on. I don't always get to watch the news without interruptions. So sometimes I miss it if it is mentioned or I catch the end of the report. Water for drinking and cooking does that include washing dishes? I can use the hurricane water for drinking and cooking and replace it next time I go to the store or from filtered tap water once it is safe.
