Boot Camp Phone Calls

First they held a sit-in at the governor’s office, and then led a march on the Capitol.

Monday a group of Florida college students tried to jam the phones at the Bay County Sheriff's Office. They're protesting the death of 14-year-old Martin Anderson and demanding former boot camp commander Mike Thompson be fired.

The calls started coming in around 8:30 in the morning. Dozens of students in Tallahassee protested Sheriff Frank McKeithen and his handling of the death of 14-year-old Martin Anderson. The students say they want to see the former boot camp commander, Captain Mike Thompson fired.

But McKeithen has gone against a request from the governor and kept Thompson on staff. The sheriff's office set up a special phone line dedicated to dealing with the students.

While the calls only lasted for a couple of hours, the students say they won't stop fighting for Martin Anderson until justice is served.
