It costs nothing to do but could cost everything if you don't. That's why law enforcement officers are cracking down hard on seatbelt safety.
Panama City law enforcement agencies gathered at the Bay County Sheriff's Office to raise public awareness of this life saving initiative. Officers signed their names on a crashed vehicle, pledging to uphold the law. The car will travel throughout the state, gathering more signatures of officers with zero tolerance for seatbelt neglect.
Although tickets can run about $70 a pop, officers can't pull drivers over for not wearing their seatbelts because Florida is a "secondary seatbelt state."
