Florida continues to have the fastest job growth rate and the lowest unemployment of the ten most populous states.
New jobless figures for the month of April show Bay County's unemployment rate has dropped to 2.7 percent. Similar drops were seen in Calhoun (3.0%), Franklin (2.9%), Gulf (2.9%) and Holmes (2.7%) counties.
Other counties in the area also showed nice declines in jobless numbers. Jackson (2.9%), Liberty (2.9%), Okaloosa (2.0%), Walton (1.8%) and Washington (3.1%) counties all continued to be well below the national average.
By the way, at 1.8% Walton County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state.
