Girl Goes for a Drive in Pensacola

Authorities in Pensacola say no one was seriously hurt when a 10-year-old girl went for a drive, crashing into several cars.

Escambia County officials say girl drove off in her guardian's SUV with a toddler and a five-year-old as passengers. She reportedly sideswiped several cars during her 15 minute drive and reached speeds of 40 to 50 mph. The trip ended when the SUV jumped a curb and hit a fire hydrant.

Sheriff's deputies charged her as a juvenile with kidnapping and false imprisonment and vehicle theft. The highway patrol charged her with careless driving, not having a driver's license, and not using a child restraint.

Police say the children received only minor injuries and other drivers were not hurt.
