It can be nightmare for any traveler, loosing credit cards or traveler’s checks while on vacation. But, one visiting couple has refused to let thieves get the best of them.
Carolyn Dye and her husband arrived in Panama City Beach from their home in northern Indiana. As it turns out, they spent much of the their vacation talking to local police.
The couple met three young men while lying out on the beach. They ended up sitting with the couple for quite a while. One even offered to play their favorite song on his guitar.
45 minutes after saying good-bye they realized their wallets were gone. The Dye’s say they were shocked to find out one of the men was a wanted felon from Oklahoma.
The thieves were two of seven arrested by Bay County sheriff’s deputies Thursday.
David Dye says he is impressed by the performance of local law enforcement. “I want the people of Panama City to know how quickly they reacted and helped us with our problem.”
The Dye’s started the investigation and called their bank to find out if and where their stolen credit cards were being used. This led them to a Thomas Drive restaurant when two of the men went back the next day and alert employee called deputies
This led to a manhunt for two, one of which was 23 year old Christopher Parrish who was wanted on six warrants for violent crimes in Oklahoma.
Parrish was found hiding in a home under construction off Allison Ave at the beach.
