The U.S. Coast Guard called off a search late Monday for a three-year-old Georgia girl who was caught by a strong current while swimming in the kiddie pool area of the jetties.
According to witnesses, the girl was on a float near the jetties at St. Andrews State Park Sunday afternoon with her 18-year-old cousin when a rough current flipped the raft and both girls went into the channel.
The 18-year-old was pulled up, but the three-year-old wasn't found.
The Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Bay County sheriff's deputies, private boaters and divers have all been searching for the girl as far as 11 miles from the coast.
Officials still have not released the little girl’s name, but they say she is from Morrow, Georgia. The 18-year-old is reportedly from Marianna.
