The Downtown Improvement Board is working constantly to beautify downtown Panama City.
Thursday’s ribbon cutting ceremony brings it one step closer to its goal.
Downtown Improvement Board Chairman Don Anderson, Mayor Lauren DeGeorge, and members of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the official opening of the Panama City west gateway.
Funds from the downtown taxing district paid for the entrance way to historic downtown, the trees, and the shrubbery. The Chevron terminal across the street has also chipped in money for the beatification project.
Panama City Mayor Lauren DeGeorge was obviously pleased.
"It's a beautiful entrance to historic downtown and it's a wonderful way to welcome our visitors and residents to this city."
The DIB is also working on a second gateway that will be built on the other side of 6th Street and Business 98.
