Panama City Commissioner Jonathan Wilson and local residents met Tuesday afternoon at the Barack Obama Campaign for Change Office in downtown Panama City.
They met to discuss Senator McCain's plan to privatize social security and potentially risk retirement security for millions of Americans.
The Obama campaign says McCain will use President Bush's privatization plan to gamble social security benefits on Wall Street.
Democrats say this is very troubling in light of the current economic crisis.
"At this point it's the worst time to invest, so you would lose a ton of money and everyone would be wondering where their next social security check is coming from and if it had been privatized we would be at that point right now," Jonathan Wilson, a Panama City commissioner, said.
The Obama camp says they will protect social security without privatizing it, raising the retirement age or cutting benefits.
