Fallen Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Forgione was gunned down in the line of duty this past summer, but his memory is living on as fellow law enforcement officers raise money for the wife and two children he left behind.

Anthony Forgione may be gone, but fellow law enforcement brothers are not forgetting the deputy or his family.

The Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club hosted a benefit run for the Forgione family; his wife, Jessica, and their two daughters, Caitlin and Cassie.

The poker run began at Heritage Cycles in Fort Walton Beach. The Harley Davidson dealership and the Emerald Coast Harley Owners Group sponsored the charity run.

In total, about 150 people took their bikes for a spin at $15 a pop. All the money is going directly to the family.

When we covered Forgione's funeral back on July 28, countless law enforcement officers who never knew Forgione paid their respects. The same was true at the poker run, except there were plenty of riders who knew and worked with him personally.

Bruce Stewart of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club said, "Our Blue Knights chapter is a law enforcement motorcycle group, number of our members are part of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department and worked with Dep. Forgione."

Dep. Forgione was killed on July 22 while officers tried to arrest suspect Mark Roman, who escaped from a mental hospital. After the suspect opened the deadly fire on Forgione, officers returned the fire on Roman.

This was the first time in Okaloosa County a sheriff deputy died in the line of duty, as well as the suspect.
