An educator, whose name is quite familiar around this area, is getting a new job in Kansas.
Dr. Larry Tyree is the top pick for the Interim President's job at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.
Tyree was the president of Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City from about 1976 to 1985.
Some of his other career highlights were President of the Dallas County Community College District in Texas, and Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, and Director of the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Florida.
The 61-year-old Tyree is coming out of retirement to take over the Johnson County job. He'll make a little over $200,000 a year.
The college's Board of Trustees approved Tyree's contract Thursday evening.
