A former Panama City physician, serving a life in prison term, has died of cancer.
Dr. Freddie Williams died in a North Carolina hospital on Sunday. He was 56 years old.
Williams was convicted in 2004 of a number of felony charges in a federal court trial, some of them connected to the dispensing of drugs that led to the deaths of two of his patients.
He was in the process of appealing his case at the time of his death.
Funeral services for Dr. Williams will be at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in Panama City.
