There was an airplane crash incident in Washington County Thursday night. Authorities say the pilot was 36-year old Gian Luca Noia and he was on his way from Dallas to Kissimmee for an air show.

Investigators say he was flying an experimental rear engine prop pusher plane through the county when he lost power.

He made an emergency landing safely on the Orange Hill highway. But, a car suddenly rounded a corner in the opposite direction. The pilot swerved into a ditch to avoid a collision.

Noia was not injured, but his plane was heavily damaged when it went into the roadside ditch. Police say the plane is ruined, but no dollar estimates of the loss were available.
