Officers with the Florida Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Compliance division recently seized $3 million from a Tractor Trailer rig during a commercial vehicle inspection.
It happened on Interstate Ten exit 85 near Defuniak Springs early last week. The truck was operated by Eduardo Transport Corporation.
A police K-9 conducted a “sniff” of the vehicle and alerted on the truck and the trailer. A search received 150 kilos (330 pounds) of cocaine with a street value estimated at $3 Million. Officers also seized $3,000 in cash.
Driver Eduardo Requejo of Miami and co-driver Jorge Luis Almanza of Texas were arrested on trafficking charges and turned over to Special Agents of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The truck tractor and trailer were seized. This investigation is ongoing.
