A 32-year-old DeFuniak Springs man has been charged with three counts of DUI manslaughter for a triple fatality traffic accident.
Jesus Bernal Rangel was jailed in Panama City after he was released from a local hospital for injuries he received in the accident June 24. It occurred at the north end of the Clyde Wells Bridge across Choctawhatchee Bay in Walton County.
Rangel lost control of his pick up truck and crossed into the path of a car on the approach to the bridge. One passenger in his truck was killed along with two people from Cincinnati, Ohio in the other vehicle.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the cause of the crash was alcohol related. In addition to the DUI Manslaughter charges, Rangel also faces two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury.
