Two people have been killed in two separate traffic accidents this weekend in Bay and Walton Counties.
A 40-year-old Youngstown man, Shaun A. Liner, died just after midnight Sunday morning in a single car accident at Bayhead Road and State Road 2301 in north Bay County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Liner was eastbound on Bayhead Rd. and ran through a stop sign at the intersection. He then applied the brakes on his vehicle which then rolled over several times.
Liner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was tossed out of the overturning vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Saturday afternoon in Walton County one person died and two others were seriously injured in a chain reaction rear end collision.
The mishap occurred on State Road 83 about 10 miles north of DeFuniak Springs. Troopers say 45-year-old Patricia Newby of DeFuniak Springs was killed when her car was struck from the rear by a large truck.
Newby was stopped at the time along with other vehicles for other traffic.
Her car crashed into another car, which in turn crashed into another car. Two other drivers were seriously injured. They were identified as 58-year-old Keith Andrew of DeFuniak Springs and 52-year-old Frankie Kitchens of Holt.
The truck driver, 28-year-old Jason Lee Hill of Panama City Beach, was not injured. He told troopers his brakes failed.
Charges are pending in the accident investigation.
