Rohan Won't Seek Re-election - Promises She'll Be Back

School board member Thelma Rohan says she's done "school-boarding" for a while, but she is not out for good.

Rohan has served on the Bay District School Board since 1998.

In November she'll leave her District 3 seat so she can spend quality time with her family, and her son who is moving back to Bay County to join her husband’s medical practice.

But Rohan says she isn't finished with her service to Bay County, and is considering a run at the Panama City mayor's office, or Bay County School Superintendent when James McCalister's term is up in 2008.

"The burn in my stomach is for the school system. I’m thinking seriously about running for superintendent."

Rohan's District School Board seat will be filled during the Sept. 5 election.
