A Port St. Joe man will not be getting a new trial for the stabbing death of his longtime friend.
The First District Court of Appeals has affirmed the conviction and the 10-year prison sentence of 55-year-old David Lee Barnes.
Barnes was tried for second degree murder and convicted on a lesser charge, manslaughter, for the October, 2004 stabbing death of Michael Speights.
The killing happened during a drunken brawl at a Mexico Beach home.
The appeals court affirmed the lower courts decisions unanimously and without comment.
