Analysts say slow market conditions are leading companies to cut back on their holiday giving to employees.

An October survey done by American Express says 29 percent of employers surveyed plan to cut back on their gifts and that's down from 46 percent just in August.

And it's just not businesses that are feeling the pain, but also some companies that supply gifts to them as well.

These cutbacks come as unemployment hit a 14-year high in October.
