Millions of Americans are hitting the roads this busy holiday season, and as surprising as it may seem, it just might be the best time to take advantage of great vacation deals.

As Americans get set to travel this holiday season one thing is certain, there are deals to be had.

With a slow economy, many companies are doing everything they can to attract vacationers.

Right now for people who are willing to book a vacation, there are some really great deals going on for cruises, tours, theme parks, and believe it or not, hotel prices are 10 to 20% off. Compared to what they were about this time last year, there are some great bargains if you need to travel in the upcoming months.

When it comes for air-travel, procrastinators these days are being rewarded.

“This year is a special year, we've got every major airline with a holiday sale right now, and some of these even go through the end of February.”

But don't fret, if you have already booked your travel, you can still take advantage of the discounts.

Most people don't know this, but if the price drops for the same flight that you have already purchased, airlines including: United, Alaska, Jet Blue, and Southwest will change your ticket. Some will give it to you; they may even change it for nothing, and others may give you a credit voucher for the difference.

And if you've ever thought about taking a cruise, now might be a good time to plan.

You could be among the first to board one of about 20 new cruise ships expected to hit the waters in 2010. That's an increase of 18% in cruise capacity.
