Here's a sign of the times--Credit card debt and delinquent payments are both on the rise.

Some credit reporting agencies say credit card debt jumped 7.7percent in the third quarter, compared to last year.

Balances that are delinquent for 90 days or more in the same comparison rose.

Officials say the year-over-year gains are reflective of the trouble in the economy.
