Sylvester Baker died in an accidental house fire on July 27. The retired Air Force veteran held the rank of Master Sergeant.
He was a proud member of the highly successful 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion known as the "triple nickel," the first all-African-American parachute unit activated in 1944.
In retirement, he still kept his ties with the Air Force. He was a sports coach at Tyndall Air Force Base, among other places throughout the world.
Interment will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola. A memorial service is scheduled at Tyndall Air Force Base on August 24.
