Mexico Beach and Holmes County Traffic Fatalities

Mexico Beach police are continuing their investigation into the Sunday morning traffic death of 22-year-old Reggie C. Bostick of Camilla, GA.

They have charged another Camilla man, 22-year-old Carl D. Phelps, with DUI manslaughter.

Investigators say the early Sunday morning mishap happened in the driveway at 1008 Highway 98 in Mexico Beach when Phelps drove up to the home and struck Bostick, who was in the driveway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly overnight crash in rural Holmes County.

At 1:45 a.m. Tuesday passing drivers reported seeing a rolled over vehicle on County Road 179-A, which is also known as Watkins Road.

Twenty-six-year-old Robert L. Brown of Bonifay crashed the vehicle near State Road 2, just south of the state line.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Brown lost control on a curve, hit a culvert and his SUV went airborne for almost 60 feet. It then rolled over and threw Brown out, killing him. He was not wearing a seat belt.
