Two passengers and the driver were treated for minor injuries after one of the Bay Towne Trolleys ran into a Springfield lake.

It happened about 10:30 this morning near Transmitter Road and State Road 22.

Authorities say the trolley driver had five passengers on board at the time.

They believe he passed out at the wheel, as a possible result of some kind of seizure, and ran off the roadway, right into Martin Lake.

The vehicle partially sank. There were a total of six people, including the driver, on board at the time. Fortunately none of the people onboard suffered any major injuries.

The Bay County Council on Aging operates the Bay Towne Trolley system.

Executive Director Beth Coulliette says a thorough investigation will be conducted over the next few days to determine exactly what happened.
