Many of us will pledge a healthier lifestyle for 2009. However these types of resolutions often fail and leave us discouraged. But if you make a plan and stick with it, you'll reap some beneficial rewards for both body and mind.
Cheraco Lindsey joined world gym this month, in hopes of getting fit in 2009. She knows all too well how difficult it can be getting back into an exercise routine, but by setting realistic goals, she's making progress.
"I had a daughter about 3 1/2 years ago and genetics and otherwise I was never able to get off that much of the baby weight. I know it's been taking me 3 years to do it, but I just kind of looked back at old pictures and decided I just wanted to get back fit. I wanted to be fit for my daughter," said Cheraco Lindsey, World Gym Member.
World gym owner Doug Durham says fitness does more than just improve your physical health. Working out can also help you work off some of the financial stress you might be faced with.
"One of the best ways to handle it is to come up here and beat a treadmill up for 45 minutes," said Doug Durham, World Gym Owner.
Speaking of a faltering economy, some people might wonder what would happen if they spent hundreds of dollars on a year long gym membership and then the business closed down.
A similar situation happened at American woman fitness spa in Fort Walton Beach last month. But Gold's Gym managers assure everyone that won't happen in Bay County.
"We have a strong name in the community. We're not going anywhere. We have a good reputation with our knowledge, our experience in the business that you're going to get what you pay for when you work out at Gold's Gym," said Vic Sellers, Gold’s Gym General Manager.
If you're still weary, most gyms offer month-to-month memberships as well.
Both world gym and Gold's Gym are offering some holiday specials if you'd like to get back into fitness routine.
Gold’s Gym is offering rates from $29- 49 monthly.
They are also offering one free day of fitness and a fitness assessment from January 2-January 4. Contact Gold’s at (850) 233-2111. The Gold’s in Panama City is currently under renovation and should reopen on January 5.
World Gym is offering 1 year paid-in-full memberships for $299.00. One year memberships paid monthly are $25.00. And 3 month memberships are running $109. Contact World Gym at (850) 249-6753.
