Sandy Willard's been hammering, sanding and painting shoes for nearly 27 years.
And while most businesses are just struggling to stay afloat in this weak economy his shoe repair shop is struggling to meet the increasing demand.
Reporter: "So business is up?
Owner: "Yes!"
Reporter: "In this economy? Explain?"
Owner: "People are instead of throwing away their shoes and buying new with the economy the way it is they have to get their old stuff repaired," says Sandy Willard the owner of Willard's Shoe Repair.
Not only is business booming for Willard, but he says he's seeing a lot more younger folks coming in with their shoes.
It seems older folks are passing on the tradition of saving money.
"There's a lot more because their saying my mother told me or my grandmother told me...Oh I'm glad i found you...Yeah the older generations started to explain it to the younger generations," says Willard.
Plus repairing old shoes is "going green" at it's best.
"It's a recycling thing too instead of just keep throwing things away you can recycle it and get more use out of it," says Willard.
Willard says not every shoe is qualified for repair, but it might pay to try.
"It's like a car you keep the tires in shape you keep going."
On top of his Panama City location Willard has two drop off locations.
One in Panama City Beach and another in Santa Rosa Beach.
But his demand in the Chipley and Fort Walton areas is growing so two additional locations may be in the works.
