Early Voting Great Success in Bay County

Andersen says about 10,000 voters cast their ballots early. That's a big increase from the 2004 primary.

There were 7,000 early voters in that election. There was a steady line of folks getting their votes in early throughout the day Sunday, and throughout the entire two weeks.

Bay County has had the highest early voter turnout percentage-wise in the state.

Andersen says he thinks this is because democracy and voting are a priority to folks here, and he wants this trend to continue.

Mark Andersen, Supervisor of Elections, said, "My goal is to get Bay County labeled as the county with the highest consistent voter participation for any election at any time. That's what is important to me."

There are still more than 90,000 registered voters that need to cast their ballots this Tuesday. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Andersen recommends getting there early.
