I've lived in Chile for years. Most Chileans despise Americans. Believe that. The only reason things haven't happened here in Chile is because there are no Americans here, to speak of. As regards the one gentleman's assertion that he could guarantee visitors security, good luck with that. Re: Shooting. There is a 50% chance that these people were playing their music too loud for the Son of Sam neighbor. Keep that in mind. Chileans don't really think about how their music, etc, is affecting the neighbors, either. It's just not part of their upbringing. Also, despite their image, the Chilean police are totally passive, like UK police. IE, these kids walk all over them in STGO. Welcome to the USA. Better sharpen your game and learn to respect your crazy neighbor, spoiled little fake socialistas. I'll guarantee you these guys live privileged little lives on the back of some hard-working Chilean.

News media: show me how many times someone used a gun for protection vs.how many times they used it to do violence in the last 60days....Where is the logic gun lovers? Too many guns end up with people like this scum-turd.

I knew this guy personally because he was my neighbor for 5 years. You morons blaming the gun are idiots. The person to blame is the person that did the killing. Yes, I talked with him occasionally and he was a nut job. He came to my neighbor's front door once with a hatchet in his hand and just starred through the window. Heaven forbid, but if he would of used the hatchet on these people it would of been a mutch more heinous crime. Nut jobs kill with whatever they have. The gun is an inannimate object and cannot act on it's own. I own several guns and if I still lived next to this guy and saw him shooting people I would of shot him down in a hearbeat. This guy was on permanent disability which means he was probably on heavy meds. He was also a loner, belligerent and a radical, none of which you can tie to gun banning, Americans, Republicans or God. Some people are just crazy and we need to blame the crazy person. Please keep that in mind. I'm sorry for the friends and families losses.

American's are not to blame in this situation. This is a senseless act of violence that happense everywhere, including Chile. But, it's getting major exposure in the Latin world because it's a gringo busting open the door and shooting Latin people. Telemundo and the other Spanish stations are painting a biased and incomplete picture for foreigners about America. Chilean's should quit blaming American's because not all American's are at fault. Additionally, this one bad act doesn't mean that American's should lose the right to bear arms. You're making a broad generalization about an isolated incidence. Chile has crime. American's have gone to Chile and been senselessly killed, as well. I'm sorry for the loss of the families, but quit blaming it on all Americans.

V in Texas.....less than 9% of violent crimes are with firearms. U.S. ER's had a 40% decline in gunshot's treated. Of all prisoner's incarcerated for firearms crimes, 80% obtained them illegally, which is what would happen with gun control. This is from Bureau of Justice, but I'm sure you already knew all this, right? Keep your "crisis" paranoia to yourself please.

Liberals, moderates and conservatives don't like all the latinos that are taking jobs. Look at the way Spitzer the former gov of NY (a state filled with liberals) lost 60 points off his approval rating in 2 weeks when he tried to give driver licenses to illegal immigrants. Americans are united in their opposition to illegals. They take many GOOD PAYING jobs that americans need more than ever during this depression. I myself am a life long liberal.

I too am Chilean living in the USA. A) In Chile it is also easy to buy a gun. The difference is that guns and ammo in Chile are VERY expensive for the average person. B) You dont remember about the ex military officer that plowed his car down a busy street in Saniago? C) The 2nd am of USA Constitution gives persons here a right to bear arms. D) Any doubts about locos in Chile, just watch Mea Culpa TVN E) Dont worry the justice system here is extremely strict and serious... In the USA you will never hear about child rapists given a 4 month sentence and a fine of 50 lukas

My sincere condolences to the family and friends. It is a tragedy that these people came here with great hope and had their lives ended by a demented man. It sounds as if he may have been more mentally ill than racist. Do not judge america or americans by this and also to remove our gun rights based on the actions of a few would be wrong also. O.J. Simpson showed us with his knife attack that it is not the weapon but the person who is the killer. Take away guns and people will kill by knives, poisons, cars, bombs, fire, clubs, spears, or others means. My brother was killed by a spanish woman that struck him with a truck while she was talking on a cell phone. Not intentional but my brother is gone just the same. I am sorry for their loss...

Well, Mike.. I don't think it's a matter of just "going back where you belong if you don't like it here" This is just getting way too old.. I guess it's a way for the ignorant, just average US American to deal with criticism. Let's face it, there is defininetely a gun control crisis in here. It is not just about schitzos killing people ('cause Baker it's just screaming out loud HALDOL!!) but also little kids getting killed at gun shows and who knows how many veterans commiting suicide with their own guns.. btw.. do you have any idea on gun related violence statistics in the US? I guess not.

This is all about crazy people with guns. Our govertment have a lot of work to do about that. Beacause people hate each other everyday and everywhere but, not all of them can go to the grocery store and get a gun like they were buying gum. I hope the Chilean Govertment make a complaint to the US Govertment for the compromise to legislate about guns after all of this tragedy. My condelences to the families. A Chilean living in NY.
