It's giving first aid to first responders.
"When we arrive on scene, there's lots of times we will arrive before ems.."
Now panama city police officers can be prepared with these first aid kits courtesy of gulf coast medical center," Sgt. Jeff Becker, of the Panama City Police Department said.
The Hunger and Homeless Coalition of Northwest Florida presented the idea to police officials saying the officers need some sort of first aid to give to victims of traffic crashes or other emergencies.
"It enables us to offer care to maybe someone who's bleeding," Becker said.
Gulf Coast Medical Center donated 250 first aid kits to the department.
The kits will be put in all 97 of the police department's patrol cars.
"We pride ourselves in being good community citizens. We recognize the work the police department. It's very hard they literally putting their lives on the line for us each day and we think this is an excellent way for us to continue that relationship, foster that partnership and recognize their good work," Brian Baumgardner, of Gulf Coast Medical Center said.
It says clearly on the side of the patrol cars, people helping people, and it's just one more way these first responders can be ready to help you in an emergency.
