Local Murderer to Stay in Prison

The First District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee has upheld the conviction and sentence of a Callaway man who gunned down two of his roommates.

Circuit Judge Glen Hess threw the book at Thomas Couch. He was convicted of killing Daniel Fabris and Nicole Savageau with a machine gun.

Couch and Fabris had gotten into a fight that evening.

A Bay County Grand Jury indicted Couch on two counts of first degree murder, but a sympathetic jury convicted him of second degree murder in Fabris' death and manslaughter for killing Savageau.

The girl was shot to death as she was running from the trailer home they shared. It was her 17th birthday.

Thursday the appeals court affirmed the conviction and Judge Hess' sentence of life with no parole for the girl’s murder and the 30-year term for killing Fabris.
