The mystery surrounding a fatal car crash on Back Beach Road last September may have been solved with Wednesday’s of 26-year-old Alexander Register of Panama City.
Register surrendered at the jail where he was booked in for DUI Manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.
In the early morning hours of September 19, 2008, a wrecked corvette was found off Back Beach Road near Kilgore’s Carpet. The driver of the eastbound sports car had apparently lost control of it on the curve and hit a utility pole. A passenger, 26-year-old Robert Mckerring was thrown from the sports car and killed. The driver could not be found.
He later turned up at an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
At the time, Florida Highway Patrol investigators questioned the suspect, but did not arrest or identify him. Blood tests were run on Register seven hours after the crash, and showed his blood alcohol content was .061.
That’s below the legal limit of .08.
However, investigators say register had not consumed any alcohol after the crash and his blood alcohol level would have been well above the legal limit when the wreck happened.

This comment section isn't here to battle with other viewers! Don't be trashy and say hurtful words about innocent people. We do not know what happened that night because we weren't there. People need to quit thinking they know everything just because they read the paper or watched the news. This is a very sad situation but keep in mind the innocent family members being affected.
