We have an update to a story about the 11-year-old Callaway boy who was attacked by a rottweiler this week.

Gage Hauck was on his way to the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown until he was attacked by the dog.

After seeing our story, the good folks at the Pioneer Settlement are now giving Gage and his family a free membership to the settlement.

And that's not all, they're also throwing in a care package filled with gifts from the general store.

Marti Vickery ,the Executive Director of the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement says after seeing Newschannel 7's story the staff couldn't help but give back to the Gage and his family.

The family says they're excited about the gesture and want to thank the pioneer settlement for all their efforts in a time of healing..

The initial news report did not indicate the dogs owners were/are black. they showed the boy. What ever color the owners are they are responsible for the actions of that dog. They also have a responsibility to keep the dog chained up. They also knew the dog had a history of biting people. The only time the "race issue" was brought up is when "Mike Jones" of PCB brought it up.

This is a responce to Mr.Jones's comment. This issue is not being made a bad example because the dog owners are black and my son is white. The dog has bitten before and they had a responsibility to inform the authorities that there animal got loose and they did not. This has nothing to do about being racial. In fact the angels that helped my son were both black.

I think that people are trying to just make a bad example out of this just cause the owners were black and the little by was white even though they are resposible for their pets they did not intentionally let their dogs out and sent them to go bite the child although it is an unfortunate accident i am sure these people are sorry for what the dog did to this little boy cause if it was their child they would feel the same way but also know that mistakes and accidents do happen and people need to know all the facts before posting all negative things about a family who has never had and problems with anyone or the law so get the facts before talking bout things you a are unsure of
