Portion of West 23rd Street is closed today after a construction crew broke a main water line and the roadway started to collapse.
Panama City police say a crew installing underground fiber optic cables cut the waterline and the result is a massive problem that's forces west 23rd street to be closed at Drummond Ave, that’s near the Carmike theater. In fact, 23rd is closed from Michigan Ave to Grant Ave.
Panama City Police have set up roadblocks and Florida Department of Transportation crews are at the scene starting repairs.
The road is expected to be closed all day and possibly late tonight.
