Eglin AFB Accident Kills One, Injures Two

An Airman was killed and two visitors were injured on Eglin AFB near the All Veterans Memorial across from the flight line around 9:40AM Thursday morning.

The accident occurred when an Airman in a privately owned vehicle apparently swerved on to a grassy area where a tour group was standing. The POV then collided with a military vehicle, killing the Airman driving the POV.

Two visitors on a base tour were injured in the accident. One was Life-Flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola. The tour was for the F-4 Phantom II Society.

The Airman was assigned to the 96th Air Base Wing, and his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Eglin’s Fire Department, Security Forces and Medical Team responded to the scene of the accident.
