Man Dies After Blountstown Accident

Tragedy has struck a Southport family for the second time in two days.

Fifty-year-old Thomas Wesley Spence died Monday as a result of injuries he received in a truck crash this weekend.

State troopers say Spence was driving his pickup truck west on Highway 20 around 6:15 Sunday morning. He was about three miles west of Blountstown when he passed another vehicle.

The truck hydroplaned, ran off the highway and hit a tree. A 22-year-old passenger, Thomas Justin Smith, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Thomas Wesley Spence died Monday morning.
