Two more suspects connected to the Shadow Bay Home Invasion Robbery and Homicide have been arrested.

On October 3, 2006, deputies responded to 7474 Shadow Bay Drive in reference to a call by the girlfriend of James Edwards, Jr. She stated three black males had entered the home and shot James Edwards after robbing the couple. Edwards died at the scene. Four children in the home at the time of the homicide were unharmed.

Working closely with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the State Attorney’s Office from the 14th Judicial Circuit, investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division uncovered information during the investigation that led them to two suspects in Jacksonville, Florida.

With the assistance of the Jacksonville SWAT Team, Ahmad J. Smith, 27, was arrested. Eric Harden, 29, was also taken into custody after a high speed chase in a Dodge Intrepid which turned out to be stolen.

Smith and Harden were both charged with Home Invasion Robbery, First Degree Murder, and Armed Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling. Both are still in Jacksonville and awaiting extradition to Bay County.
