Folks met at McKenzie Park to support the American Heart Association's signature fundraising event by walking.
The event, known as the Heart Walk, promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family environment.
This year more than one million walkers will participate in more than 600 events across the country.
Sheriff Frank McKeithen of the Bay County Sheriff's Office said, "So far we've raised about $230,000 and we're still counting money, and money's coming in. We're not sure, but this may be one of our best years ever. If it's not it's not because these folks didn't try though."
