A Panama City Beach man is picking up the pieces after fire destroyed his homeat the west end.

The fire started about 9:00 Thursday morning at an apartment located above a two-car garage on Attu Street just off Kelly.

The man living in the house, Darren Lindsley says he was awakened by the fire. He poured water on the flames, but that didn t help.

Firefighters from 3-different nearby departments responded to the call. For most of the morning they battled the stubborn flames, fanned by windy conditions.

Lindsley says he thinks the fire started in the air conditioning. Investigators are trying to verify Lindsley’s suspicions.
