Euthanized Whale Sent to Panama City for Necropsy

A necropsy will be performed in Panama City on a whale that was euthanized.

The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the 15-foot whale was first seen in the Gulf of Mexico near the Okaloosa-Walton County line Thursday afternoon.

Biologists say the sick whale tried to beach itself several times, but witnesses pushed it back in the water.

A few hours later, biologists decided it was best to euthanize the whale.

It was taken to Gulf World in Panama City, where the necropsy will be performed.
