The Panama City Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1700 block of Louisiana Ave at about 3:10pm Wednesday afternoon.
The police were called to that area in reference to shots being fired, we then received a call from a local hospital reporting they had a gun shot victim that was just brought in to the hospital.
Upon further investigation detectives learned that the victim, an 18 year old male Panama City Resident had suffered a single gunshot to his legs. The gunshot was not life threatening and the victim was treated and released from the hospital.
The victim at this time is refusing to cooperate with our police department and does not wish to press charges against who ever may have shot him. Our agency continued to investigate the incident and learned of a possible suspect vehicle that was seen speeding away from the general area.
A countywide Be On the Look Out (BOLO) was put out for the vehicle. Members of the Bay County Sheriffs Office observed a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle, when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on this vehicle the driver refused to stop and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The driver then abruptly stopped the vehicle and everyone in the vehicle jumped out and ran from law enforcement officers.
One of the passengers was apprehended and identified as 20-year-old Isiah Walker of Panama City. Isiah Walker was transported to the Panama City Police Department and then transported to the Bay County Jail where he has only been charged with Resisting an Officer without Violence. In reference to the shooting no charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation is still on going and if anyone has information about this or any other crime contact the Panama City Police Department at (850) 872-3112, their local law enforcement agency, or Crime Stoppers at (850) 785-TIPS.
