You may think Wednesday, June 3 is just another day of the week but it's also National Running Day.
Organizations across the U.S. have invited runners to get out and get going before they start their day and locals are participating!
Marshal McClanahan is the owner of Freedom Sports and his store is just of the thousands of running stores to celebrate National Running Day to unite the country.
The day launches the inaugural National Running Day to nationally and locally promote running as a healthy, easy, and accessible form of exercise. Across the country, the day will celebrate the benefits of running as part of a healthy and active lifestyle aimed at combating some of today's most pressing health issues.
Freedom Sports hosted a free group run over Hathaway Bridge. The group started gathering around 5:45 a.m. behind the Taco Bell on 98 and took off at 6 a.m. They all enjoyed goodies after the 3 mi run.
Around 20 runners showed up and that's about half of what the group sees every Thursday evening at 6PM.
So if you want to participate, feel free! Runners at every level gather at that same location and cross the bridge hours before sunset.
