The Panama City chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart is raffling off a black 1984 Mercedes Benz 190E model to benefit wounded combat veterans. Chapter members are selling 1,000 chances on the vehicle at $10 per ticket.
The chapter, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary, will hold the drawing for the car during the annual Lynn Haven Fourth of July parade.
Some of the proceeds will go to two wounded veterans who recently returned from Iraq. Jim Doescher from the Panama City Military Order of Purple Heart, says, "Both of them are still recovering from wounds and neither one of them are back to 100% capacity."
The money will also help the Military Order of the Purple Heart plan events for many wounded veterans in our area. If you would like a raffle ticket, call Jim Doescher at 233-1962.
