A Lynn Haven Methodist associate pastor is in critical condition at the hospital after wrecking his plane on a dirt road near Greenhead in Washington County.

It happened just after 8p.m. Friday night off Highway 77 at Spring Pond Road and Woodymarion.

Associate Pastor James Henry Luther Jr., was flying a 1946 Luscombe twin seater aircraft when mechanical problems forced him to land the plane.

Before hitting the ground Luther clipped several trees, but was able to dodge near by power lines.

Luther is an associate pastor at Lynn Haven United Methodist Church.

Some of the near by neighbors who heard the accident say they're grateful he's alive and are wishing him a speedy recovery.

The Washington County Sheriff's Dept. monitored the plane overnight until the Federal Aviation Administration arrived Saturday morning for their investigation.
